For Arts Sake SeriesFOR ARTS' SAKE One of the best ways to improve your painting or inspire your artistic endeavors is to see your art through the eyes of a skilled art critic or view a demonstration by a Master Painter. The Cape Cod Art Association announces our 2010 program, For Arts Sake, which will provide artists with the opportunity to receive professional critiques, informative demonstrations and interesting programs by some of Cape Cod's best artists and gallery owners.
Our events will be Monday mornings at 10AM in the Talbot Gallery at CCAA.
For Critiques members will pay $10 (non-members $12) for 2 paintings. Payment will be taken on the day of the critique. Walk-ins are welcome, though the number of participants will be limited to 10 artists, so pre-registration is recommended. Please call CCAA at 508-362-2909 to register. A guest or other observers are welcome to join us free of charge.
For demos and educational programs, a charge of $10 will be payable as you register. All money collected will be put towards the new CCAA Educational Scholarship Fund. Donations to this fund, may be made at any time.
Sept 13 Critique with Robert Mesrop - bring in 2 works
Oct 4 Talk on Modernism by Mary Moquin What is art with a capital “A” and who decides what the qualifications are? How did art “progress” from dreamy pastoral landscapes to unrecognizable shapes and colors splashed about? Why is representational painting today still often slammed as illustrative decoration? These are some of the questions that I have researched for this presentation. In order to understand where we are today I needed to journey into the past to discover how we got here. What I discovered was fascinating.
